And you woke up by my touch

I saw your smiling lips

Your nightmare left you now

I see it in your eyes

The thunderclouds have gone

Back to playing hide and seek

Behind your lashes long

And the corner of your eyes

They still smile out mischievously

My heart contracts with fear

Locked in our tug-of-war

Ignorance being your bliss

You are swirled by your own world

In the waltz of fate’s ball

You remember the painful wrench

Of every mocking laugh

When you tripped while you tried to dance

Seeing you now poised and strong

Your hands all steady and strides long

You are the acclaimed dancer

The grace and the heart of the song

They clap and laugh and take you far

And I am left wondering

Was it me or was it you all along?
